The meeting was held at the Pflugerville Library.  Helen Mary Marek, CNA's Acting President, chaired the meeting.  The meeting began at 7:05 p.m. and ended at 8:35 p.m.  Eleven neighbors attended the meeting including four "first timers."

· Attendees introduced themselves, told where they lived and described their involvement in Creekside and Pflugerville.

· Several attendees gave updates on their activities within the community:

Cecilia Galliano talked about the Architectural Review Board.  They currently have an opening for an individual with experience/education in architecture or design.  This board meets once per month.

Note: Other city boards also have openings for the coming year.  See the City's web site for more information about these opportunities.

Darren Hyson, Creekside's Web-Master, distributed handouts that depict recent improvements that he has made to our site.  He thanked everyone who provided feedback, especially Richard and Lauren Mireles.  The group discussed the merits of providing an on-line tool allowing Creekside residents to pay their annual membership dues via the site. Darren and newcomer Brian Engel discussed ideas for ensuring security/privacy and for sending emails to CNA residents without being considered a "spammer."

Note: Be sure to check out the new blogging feature on the site.  It's a great way to communicate with your neighbors!

Darren asked for help on behalf on several neighbors on Geyser Drive who are fighting the lawn fungus called brown patch.  Anthony Martin and Pat Knapp gave suggestions for organic and chemical solutions: spread whole kernel cornmeal across the lawn or treat it with fungicide.  Due to the cooler weather, the patches will remain scarred until the re-growth of new grass runners in the spring.

Darren and Helen Mary updated attendees on several streets who have, or plan to have, street block parties.  Geyser Drive had a party with about 20 attendees.  Brown/Yale/Settler's Valley held a party at the Cooper-Hebert residence where 31 people attended.  Mountain View has plans to have a party in November.  If your block hasn't already had a party, what are you waiting for?  It's a great way to meet your neighbors and make Creekside safer for everyone!

Helen Mary continued giving updates on other Creekside events that have taken place over the past two months:

The Adopt-a-Trail Clean-Up continues to happen each quarter.  The last clean up took place over Labor Day weekend.  Because of the drought, volunteers were able to thoroughly clean the streambed and treed areas from Oxford Drive to the spillway/damn at Mountain View Drive.  The next clean up is tentatively slated for November 4th.  Pat Knapp volunteered to check with the Parks and Recreation Department to ensure that signage crediting Creekside's efforts is on order.

The fall Garage Sale took place as planned in October.
Unfortunately, we did not have a coordinator for this sale so it was not as well promoted as it might have been.  Special thanks to Helen Mary for placing ads in the newspaper and creating signage for the sale, and thanks to Jill Hodgson and Kim Krumcke for helping place signs at the entrances to Creekside.  The best news is that Verina and Tony Schiller of Vogue Cove have stepped forward to coordinate the Spring Garage Sale!

Helen Mary had hoped to publish a newsletter prior to the meeting.  However, other priorities have caused that not to happen.  Look for another great edition of our newsletter, complete with ads, in the near future.

Betty Aghazadeh of Brown Drive will be coordinating this year's Halloween Parade.  It is scheduled to take place in Creekside Park on October 29, 2006 at 2 p.m.  Costumed children can look forward to feasting on cookies and punch and parading through the park.  Sounds like fun - be there or be scared!

Helen Mary has arranged for Cub Scouts (Pack 214) and Girl Scouts to help us with our Annual Holiday Food Drive.  The food drive is scheduled for December 2, 2006.  Prior to the drive, we will distribute flyers and sacks to our block captains to promote the event and facilitate easy collection of the donated food items.

Speaking of Cub ScoutsŠlook for them to participate in the City of Pflugerville's Christmas Parade on December 9th.  What busy kids they are!

Creekside will hold its annual (and Pfriendly) Festival of Lights competition on December 15-16th.  Due to a planned move, our most recent coordinators, Rick and Cecilia Murphy, will not be able to help again this year.  Luckily, long time residents and first time meeting attendees, Brian and Liz Engel of Settler's Valley have graciously volunteered to help.  How nice! Thanks to you both.

Helen Mary will meet with Brian and Liz to explain past year's rules and work out a fresh approach for the 2006 competition:
Stay tuned for details.  Meanwhile, all you Block Captains mark your calendars.  And everybody get set to string those lights! Darren Hysen is planning to post photos of Creekside's lights Pfantastic on our web site. Let's hear it for fresh content - YEAH!

December 14, 2006 is the planned date for our next meeting.  It will take place at 7 p.m. at the Pflugerville Library.  Please join us if you are able.
